What is this?
ShortStat Widget is a free Dashboard widget for OS X that offers quick access to Shaun Inman’s ShortStat on your web server.
How do I use it?
What you need:
- Shaun Inman's ShortStat - The ShortStat package that goes on your web server.
- Gateway File - The file that serves as the glue between ShortStat and the widget.
- ShortStat Widget - The actual widget for your Dashboard.
1) Install ShortStat
Download Shaun Inman's ShortStat and follow the Read Me included with the package to configure it on your web server. Once you have ShortStat configured, place the Gateway File in the ShortStat directory on your web sever.
2) Install the Widget
Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger is required. If you’re using Safari, download the ShortStat Widget. When the widget download is complete, show Dashboard, click the Plus sign to display the Widget Bar and click the widget’s icon in the Widget Bar to open it. If you’re using a browser other than Safari, click the download link. When the widget download is complete, unarchive it and place it in /Library/Widgets/ in your home folder, show Dashboard, click the Plus sign to display the Widget Bar and click the widget’s icon in the Widget Bar to open it.
3) Configure the Widget
On the preferences (back) side of the widget, type the full website path to the Gateway File on your webserver (ex. www.yoursite.com/shortstat/gateway.php).
